This beautiful wine is produced from Garnacha Tinta also known as Garnatxa Negre in its native Catalonia and Grenache Noir in France. The vines are at least 25 years old and the soils are mainly limestone, both of which add to the complexity and structure of the wine. The Via Terra Selection range of wines is designed to show the fruitiness and pureness of the grapes and to be “playful wines, easy drinking to fully enjoy life's pleasures."

I admit I am a big fan of Grenache red wines and they are becoming increasingly popular but can be pricey. I chose this one from Edetaria because I know they focus on quality and because this is a great value red wine. Also it's a nice fruity light-bodied wine in contrast to most heavier red Grenache. If it seems a little unforthcoming swirl your glass or decant the wine to open up the aromas and flavours. You will be rewarded with heaps of fruit flavours and so many more - cherries and berries, red fruits, spices, a very light touch of vanilla and some leafy notes. It is mouth-wateringly good - and it's organic. Delicious!
Enjoyed on its own or with food, this wine will pair well with most meats - chicken, turkey, red meats (grilled, roasted or barbecued), game, even roast gammon etc - and with vegetarian/ vegan cuisine. As suggested by JancisRobinson.com it will complement pasta with rich sauces.
"This wine is made from Garnacha tinta from our vineyards located in la Plana de Gandesa, in well drained soil terraces with low yields. Once in the cellar, we combine two different wine making processes. A first one, with a cold maceration of grapes, to obtain all of Grenache fruitiness; and a second one more traditional, with riper grapes to achieve a more complex structure to the whole. Aged in 300 litre French oak barrels for 6 months.
Intense red, with violet hues. Tastes friendly with soft tannins, with outstanding red fruit and a spicy finish."

"Roasted red-pepper and cranberry nose, and then into fireworks of sweet, chilli-pepper smoky, cheeky fruit smeared in tomato jam and a touch of basil leaf. Light-touch tannins. Mouth-watering. I eat very little pasta, but all this wine makes me feel like is a giant bowl of spaghetti alle vongole. A wine that belongs on a long, stained, burn-marked wooden kitchen table with pots of steaming food and bowls laden with bright salads. A wine that should be drunk in the hubbub noise of family and friends."
I'm a great fan of Edetaria's white wines - I added this pure red Garnacha or Grenache as it's fruity, complex, mouth-wateringly good - and it's great value
