Godello is an aromatic white grape variety originating in Spain and mainly found in DOs in the North West of the country such as Ribeiro DO. It almost became extinct in the 1970s and is now only grown in limited though increasing quantities. Godello is thought to be the same grape as Portugal's Verdelho and is found in varietal wines or as part of blend (with Treixadura and Albariño mainly).
Godello wines are relatively intense with apricot and mineral characteristics and a silky texture.
