Marsanne

Often blended with Roussanne or Viognier, Marsanne is a fairly neutral white grape found mainly in the Northern Rhône & Languedoc-Roussillon regions of France. Best known Rhône wines produced with Marsanne include white Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage & St Joseph. The Marsanne grape is also known as Ermitage in Switzerland and Grosse Rousette in the Savoie region of France.

Pure Marsanne wines are rare but have delicate mineral, citrus & peach flavours with honeysuckle aromas and these develop as the wine ages. Wines with Marsanne are usually dry but the grape can also be used in sweet wines.
