Viognier
Not the easiest grape to pronounce - "Vee-on-ee-ay" - the Viognier grape is a white grape found in the Rhône, in Languedoc-Rousillion, Australia, California and increasingly in other wine-producing regions. This white grape may also be added to some red wines to provide a dash of aromatics.
Often used in blends with Roussanne, Marsanne etc, Viognier can be found as a 100% varietal; the best known pure Viognier is Condrieu which can be expensive (though delicious!). But there are good value Viogniers too. Viognier wine is aromatic, floral & tastes of apricots, peaches, candied peel and spice.
