To add to the Crusted Port from Churchill Estates, I sought out this beautiful tawny port.
It comes from an 18th Century wine estate in the Douro that uses several indigenous grapes and very modern wine-making techniques.
Recommended on its own chilled before dinner, with rich nutty desserts or with Stilton and hard cheeses

Light amber in color, offering delicious, elegant and fresh aromas and flavors of toffee, dried apricot, berry and spice. Finishes with orange zest and a hint of coconut. Stylish.

"The NV 10 Year Old Tawny Port was bottled in 2014. It is an old vines field blend coming in at 110.4 grams per liter of residual sugar. Showing fine complexity for a 10, this adds a hint of treacle around the edges on opening and then becomes a classic 10--fresh and lively. It has a sweet conclusion, but the nice acidity keeps this on track. It's sunny demeanor and impeccable balance make it a pleasure to drink. There were 1,700 bottles (500ml) produced."
