Description
Balfour Hush Heath Estate Nannette’s Rosé 2022 is an example of how English still wines just keep on getting better as global warming affects our climate and as English winemakers keep refining their techniques. At the heart of Balfour’s success with Nannette’s rosé are its clay and sand soils in the Hush Heath Estate vineyards and the careful selection of specific clones of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Each clone of each variety is picked and vinified separately – and sustainably – to ensure the best of each before being blended into Balfour’s house style of wine which is crisp and fresh with a wonderful balance of fruit and vibrant acidity on the palate, giving way to a long mouth-watering finish. It’s a beautiful rosé wine.
Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier provide the lovely soft fruit characteristics of Balfour Hush Heath Estate Nannette’s Rosé 2022 – red fruits like strawberries and raspberries with hints of tangerine and pear and floral notes (it smells – and tastes – delicious)! Chardonnay gives freshness and an aromatic quality maintained by cool fermentation. Using yeast from Rioja gives the wine a silky texture. This is Provence style rosé – fruity and crisp – but with a bit more body and more intense aromas and flavours. What a great find, if I say so myself!
