Description
Fatalone Primitivo Riserva Gioia Del Colle 2019 is produced in Puglia, southern Italy, from organic Primitivo or Zinfandel grapes. This is a lovely, full-bodied and velvety smooth red wine that smells and tastes of black fruits, raspberries and cherries with notes of spices, almonds and much, much more. I loved it from the first time I tried it. What is really striking about this wine is the texture or mouthfeel which is really soft and smooth and the very long and complex finish. It is a relatively rich wine but not overpoweringly so given the mouth- watering acidity and the lovely juicy fruit flavours. It is delicious!
Fatalone Primitivo Riserva Gioia Del Colle is certified organic. Only indigenous yeast is used for fermentation and minimal sulphites are added to replace those natural sulphites lost during the wine-making process. The wine is aged in stainless steel, oak barrels and in bottle. Music is played to “optimize the spontaneous micro-oxygenation process” required to help the wine develop its complexity. Music therapy is also used by Chateau Gaby and Chateau Moya for their wines.
Fatalone Primitivo Riserva was selected among the four most representative wines of Southern Italy in wine bible The World Atlas of Wine by Jancis Robinson and Hugh Johnson (7th edition) and was described as “one of Puglia’s most consistently complex Primitivos”. The organic and 100% sustainable Fatalone winery is also mentioned among the most “notable producers” from Puglia and the only “notable producer” in the DOC Gioia del Colle appellation area.
