Description
Robert Oatley Finisterre Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is smooth, fresh, blackcurrant-dominant Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s full of concentrated flavours and aromas – dark berry fruits with spice, herbs and a whisper of fresh tobacco leaf. There’s a light bite from the tannins which indicate this wine can be kept and will develop for several years yet – but the tannins are light and fine, making the wine very drinkable now. Fabulous New World Cabernet!
The Oatley family describe their Finisterre range of wines as focussing on single-variety, single-region wines with an emphasis on selected special sites that display our preferred characteristics. Hand-harvesting, fruit sorting and intuitive winemaking delivers small-parcel wines with clarity, purity, great texture and flavour expression.”

“Very dark red. This is tight, youthful and really needs time but has seriously good balance. Dry herbs, blackberries, hints of bell pepper and tobacco leaf. This is quintessential cabernet. Balance and concentration, yet light on its feet with very fine tannins. It will do ten years standing on its head. Great stuff and my pick of the entire release for this year.”

Decanter
“Creamy cassis on the nose with clove and anise undertones and hints of tobacco. Lovely fine-grained tannins”
