Description
Bodega Noemia A Lisa Malbec 2022 is a modern style of Malbec, a much softer, more elegant style of Malbec than many others. Malbec accounts for c. 90% of the blend with c. 10% Merlot. The wine is only part aged in oak barrels and they are used barrels. 30% is aged in cement tanks and 40% in stainless steel. As a result this is not a big oaky Malbec but a much more elegant style. The old vines in Bodega Noemia’s vineyards and those of its neighbours make for complex flavours in the wine. It tastes of refreshing red berry fruits, ripe plums, blackberries and sour cherries with hints of spice, cocoa and subtle aromas of violets. The cool climate of Patagonia and the addition of the Merlot means that Bodega Noemia A Lisa Malbec 2022 has a softer style with smooth tannins, vibrant acidity and lower alcohol than many Argentinian Malbecs. Quite full-bodied, the wine is lovely and smooth with a delicious crunchy, red fruit bite on the finish. Note – the change to the Burgundian bottle is intentional reflecting the style of the wine as a very elegant, refined, red wine rather than what is perceived to be a typical Argentinian Malbec.
Initially a collaboration between an Italian countess and a Danish winemaker, Bodega Noemia was set up in the Rio Negro desert region of Patagonia because of its old Malbec vines and alluvial soils. One of the southern-most wineries in the world, the winery also manages closely vineyards owned by a number of other producers in order to create a micro-economy in the community and to protect the old vines that might otherwise be ripped up to be used for other, more profitable, activities. The ethos in the vineyards and in the winery is minimal intervention. No sulphites are added and grapes are produced organically and bio-dynamically.
